Maestro Bobby Ramírez is a musician, composer, author, and tireless advocate for Cuban culture. Throughout his artistic and educational career, he has dedicated his life to preserving, teaching, and sharing the richness of Cuba’s music, dance, and folkloric traditions. His work reflects a profound love for his Cuban roots—particularly the musical and dance expressions of the 19th century—a period when foundational genres such as the contradanza, the danzón, and other forms that defined Cuba’s cultural heritage truly flourished.
As a composer and author, Maestro Bobby Ramírez has contributed to the dissemination of Cuban music through publications, musical arrangements, educational materials, and cultural projects designed for students, musicians, families, and communities. His vision unites art with education, building bridges between generations so that young people may discover, value, and perpetuate Cuba’s authentic traditions. His work as a musician not only celebrates the past but also drives new ways of presenting Cuban folklore with elegance, historical fidelity, and contemporary relevance.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Maestro Bobby Ramírez has distinguished himself as a danzonero and a champion of the revival of the classic Cuban ballroom danzón. In this mission, he has been a true pioneer, bringing the danzón to community stages, cultural events, educational programs, and artistic exchanges. His commitment to this Cuban national dance stems from a desire to keep alive a refined, family-oriented tradition that is deeply intertwined with the identity of the Cuban people.
The Maestro Bobby Ramírez Cuban-American Folkloric Institute—a non-profit organization founded in 2012—continues this mission under his leadership, alongside its Executive Director, Dr. Glenda R. Mujer Esperanza (PhD in Art and Culture). The Institute’s primary function is educational and dedicated to serving the community and the world at large: to revive the classic Cuban ballroom danzón; to preserve and promote Cuba’s original folkloric music and authentic dance traditions; to participate in cultural exchanges; and to facilitate community service opportunities for high school students. To inspire new generations with the family values of the Apostle José Martí; and to bring education, love, and happiness to 1,000,000 young people and families every year.
